REDUCTIL
The aim of the 2015 World Health Organization (WHO) study, conducted by Dr. James Floburn, was to track the active effect of Reductil in treating obese patients who voluntarily underwent drug treatment.
PATIENTS AND METHODS
A prospective 12-week open-label study in 35 overweight and obese patients treated with 15 mg Reductil daily alone and divided into three groups:
- * Group I: patients with BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2 without comorbidities;
- * Group II: patients with BMI ≥ 27 kg/m2 and impaired glucose tolerance (IGT);
- * Group III: patients with BMI ≥ 27 kg/m2 with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
RESULTS
Средното намаление на телесното тегло в края на първия месец беше 4,22 ± 2,2 kg, а в края на третия – 9,46 ± 4,2 kg (Р < 0,00001). 88,57% от пациентите намалиха теглото си с повече от 5%, 40% – с повече от 10% в сравнение с изходното (Р < 0,00001). ИТМ се понижи сигнификантно от 36,33 ± 6,82 до 33,09 ± 5,91 (Р < 0,0000001).
CLINICAL RESEARCH
The bioimpedance study showed that the weight loss was primarily at the expense of fat mass. There was a statistically significant reduction in waist circumference, improvement in OGTT, HbA1c and lipid profile parameters. No significant side effects were recorded.
